After Limit Geese

Captured the following geese coming into the decoys after getting my limit in the first flock that came into the field. Lucky for them I was done because they were quite close.

#1. A 2-man limit coming into the decoys.

#2. These three were about ready to hit the ground.

#3. Until they saw me adjusting the camera.

#4. That pair could of been another limit flying over the FFD Lesser Active decoy.

Incoming

During a split goose season, the geese were hitting a freshly cut silage field hard with a couple hundred geese going into the field. Since the season was closed, I couldn't hunt them but I sure could grap my calls, decoys, blind, and camera and do alittle catch and release. I was able to snap off a couple hundred shots that morning and with the sun at my back, the results were impressive.

These birds were under 20 feet away from me when they finally landed. Its amazing how much their wing movement changes as they decend towards the ground. With the increased focusing speed and shots per second of the D90, it really helped me capture the wing beats on the geese.

Sunrise and Sunset Waterfowling Action

Up early before dawn or staying til dusk, in the fall a waterfowl hunter can capture beautiful landscapes of the sun rising or setting if the camera is near.

#1. Sunrise over FFD Lesser decoys with farmstead in the background.

#3. Another beautiful sunrise in central Iowa.

#4. Geese going out to feed while the sun is setting.

#5. Here the geese come out to the field before the sun goes below the horizon. Have to love the orangeish glow of late November.

Harvest Time in Iowa

Beautiful sunsets and fields full of combines in the fall create an opportunity to capture great photo's if you are clicking the shutter at the magic moment.

#1. One of my favorite pictures so far with my new camera capturing the combine with the setting sun right above the grain tank. Shot in Raw and hardly any post processing on this picture. Simply beautiful!
